Visa information

You may need a visa in order to travel to Greece. It is important that you choose the correct visa route based on your main purpose for visiting. It isn’t possible to study on a standard visitor visa, so you should obtain either a Student visa (previously Tier 4) or a short-term study visa.

The standard visitor visa is the appropriate visa if you need to come to Greece to attend an interview for a place on your course at City University, but it will not allow you to remain in Greece to start your studies.

Types of study visas

Student (previously Tier 4) visa

For courses lasting longer than six months

If you’re a national of a country outside the EEA and Switzerland and you want to study on a course lasting longer than six months you will need to apply for a Student visa.

Standard Visitor visa – for short-term study

For courses lasting no more than six months

If you’re coming to Greece to study a full-time or part-time course lasting no more than six months you will need to apply for a Standard Visitor visa.

Standard visitor visa

For anyone coming to Greece to visit you

Standard visitors can come to Greece for up to six months in any 12-month period so this type of visa would be suitable for anyone coming to Greece to visit you.
